Kinn is one of many islands surrounding the town Florø. Most of the islands have year-round settlements and have several daily calls by local express boats. Florø is the town centre of the municipality of Flora, which has a population of about 11500 (2010). The town Florø celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2010, it was founded on the 16th of May 1860.
The illustration to the right shows a typical route map when going by boat from Florø directly to Kinn,
the trip takes about 30 minutes. If you go by the local express boat that runs many times each day between Florø and the islands, the trip from Florø to Kinn (and vice versa) will take from about 45 minutes to max 1 hour (depending on how many islands the boat will call at). Further down on this page there's an illustration showing where to find the local express boats in Florø's harbour. This quay facility is called Fugleskjærskaia and lies at the end of the road
RV 5. Please observe that free parking is generally NOT available in the town centre of Florø, so if you bring your car you will have to buy a parking ticket at one of the ticket machines (there's one at the parking lot on the Fugleskjærskaia as well). The bus station lies only about 150 meters from Fugleskjærskaia. Many of the buses even stops at the quayside (ask the bus driver).
In addition to the daily, scheduled local express boats to Kinn and the other islands, you can also hire a taxi-boat if you like. They are available in different sizes, more details further down. There are also a beautiful veteran-vessel called "ATLØY" that can be chartered. The airline Danish Air Transport
(DAT) has many daily flights between Florø and Oslo and between Florø and Bergen. From Florø Airport you can get to Fugleskjærskaia in 5 - 10 minutes by taxi, call Florø Taxi,

Florø is also a port of call for both
Hurtigruten (the Coastal Express) and
regional express boats between Bergen and Nordfjord (Selje).
